The Bungmati Route itinerary:

We will start our tour at 9 am. After your breakfast, a private car will pick you up from your hotel and take us to the Chovar hill. (30 minutes drive) Upon our arrival, we will admit into the Manjushree Park and Cave reservation. We will begin exploring the Chovar caves, which are the second largest cave in Nepal and the third largest in Asia. Our cave guide will take you inside the cave for about 268 meters for around 1 hour.

After finishing our caving, we will visit the nearby Jalabinayak temple, where the famously self incarnated statue of Hindu god Ganesh resides. It is one of the oldest temples of Nepal and one of the main four Ganesh shrines of the Valley.

From there we will start our hiking to nearby Chovar Gorge. Carved out of a hillside, the Chovar gorge is the only outlet for all the waters of the valley. Legend has it that Manjushree, an ancient Buddhist deity cut the mountain with her magical sword to drain the water from Kathmandu valley which was then just a lake. It has been proved scientifically that Kathmandu used to be a lake and all the water of the valley was drained out from exactly this point too.

From there we will move on to our next destination the Bungmati and Khokana village, (1 hour hike) which are the first human settlements after the mystical establishment of Kathmandu valley. The ancient newari culture and civilization is still living in this village, as if they are an open museum and life still is in the age of medieval period.

We will stop for lunch in there, and after that continues our hike to the Taudaha lake. (1 hour hike) Legends has it that, this lake was made by the Buddhist deity, Manjushree, the very same who cut the Chovar hill to help start human settlement. This lake was made to house the numerous Nags, hindu mystical snakes, that lived in the lake of the valley before. Till now it is believed that the King of all Nags, who the then believed have resided in the old lake, is taking shelter in the Taudaha lake.

After our sightseeing tour in the Taudaha lake, our private car will pick us up and take us back to your hotel.
