This is the Nepalese version of Mother’s day. This day all Nepalese people visit and give gifts to their mother. Those who’ve lost their mother, go to the nearest temple (especially Gokarna of Kathamndu) to do a memorial service for their mother.

This is one of the widely celebrated festivals that falls on the first month, Baisakh (April/May), of the Nepali Year.It is also called Mata Tirtha Aunsi as it falls on a new moon night.
