Uvhauli

This is one of the two main (nature and farming related) festival of the Rai community with its various clans. This day marks the beginning of plantation season and so, the reason for spreading happiness and friendship for the upcoming hard work in the fields

The indigenous Kirant community celebrated Sakewa Udhauli festival by organising a variety of programmes and exchanging joy and greetings on Friday.

Kirant people from children to adults perform a special type of dance called “Sakela” in open fields during the festival. They dance in circles in the rhythmm of songs and music.

Do: Visit the Tudikhel of the Kathmandu or any program organized by the Rai community in the cities of Pokhara, Dharan etc, dance along with them to the thumping beats of their traditinal drum and addictive music.
