The Manakamana temple

 

The manakamana temple is dedicated to the wish-granting goddess Manakamana, one of the many incarnation of the powerful goddess Bhagwati.

According t o legends the Manakamana goddess stone of this temple has power to fulfill any wishes. It is believed that the goddess image was self immerged after the sati dahan of the then queen of Gorkha, who is believed have been a divine power hostess. And the image is a part of her divine power of Goddess Bhagwati. This temple was built on the 17th century.

This temple is located at the Gorkha district about 125km west of Kathmandu. A good three hour uphill trek from the Abu khaireni after the 4 hours of drive, otherwise also an easy access through the cable cars. Adorning the top of small mountain, you can see the spectacular views of the Marsyangdi river valley and Trishuli river valley. It also overlooks the magnificent views of mt. Manaslu-Hiuchuli and the Annapurna range series.
