Asar Pandra

Ashar Pandra means the 15th day of a Nepalese month “Ashar” the third month. This festival usually falls on the last week of June. It is a festival of the Nepalese farmers to celebrate the beginning of rice plantation season and pray for fruitful harvest. This day is celebrated by dancing, singing a special song on the rice field with doing the rice plantation. On this day Nepalese eat special food of Dahi – Chiura (Youghert and Beaten Rice) with family and friends or even at the work.
